Most of the houses across this part of Michigan went up between 1950 and 1994, with the median build year landing around 1976. That's not a small range - it means a two-car garage in one neighborhood can have completely different bones than one four miles away. Across the 21 named areas we cover from our Fenton shop, the bulk of the stock is 1960s and 1970s construction, which usually means single-layer steel doors, torsion springs sized for that era's lighter panels, and openers that have already been swapped once or twice.
Alphabetically, the towns and areas we run trucks to include: Argentine, Brighton, Byron, Davison, Davisburg, Deerfield, Durand, Flushing, Goodrich, Grand Blanc, Hartland, Holly, Howell, Lake Fenton, Linden, Milford, Ortonville, Swartz Creek, Vernon, and the Village of Clarkston. Lake Fenton sits about 3 miles from us, Linden roughly 4, Holly around 5 - closer stops we can get to inside a short drive. Howell, Brighton, Davison, and Flushing run closer to 17-19 miles out, which we still cover, just with a longer lead on scheduling.
We don't have a house-by-house breakdown for each of these places, so we're not going to pretend one street is different from the next. What we can tell you is that the era most of this housing was built in - 1950s through 1994 - drives most of what we see on a service call, no matter which of these towns the call comes from.
